Manages individual and class behaviors through a well-planned management system
1. In the classroom, I have been putting knowledge gained from course readings into practice. In a recent blog about a reading, I talked about practicing dealing with a misbehavior through nonverbal intervention. Giving students “the look” or using proximity as a management strategy where simply standing near a misbehaving student gets that student back on track. http://cedumas.weebly.com/ede-4504-blog/weinstein-ch-12
2. My favorite thing with which the entire school complies is that of Trapper Tickets, which are awarded for good behavior and can be redeemed for a small event each month, such as a game day or a treat outside, like popsicles. I give these out each morning when the students walk in if they remember to say good morning first thing. This is also a school-wide practice. Administration wants students to be in the habit of sharing greetings, so to do my part in that practice I give out the Trapper Tickets to students when they participate. I also like to give them out during lessons when a student does particularly well, puts in a lot of effort, or participates more than normal.
This blog also discusses a bit more
about the Trapper Tickets and how they work across the school: http://cedumas.weebly.com/ede-4504-blog/ch-13-weinstein
