Shares the importance and outcome of student assessment data with the student and the students' parent/caregiver(s)
Something that I like to do with students is grade assessments in front of them. This lets them see right away their performance as well as talk some things out with me. This is particularly effective in math where we can work a difficult problem out together or they can show me their thinking. Additionally, I decided to create goal sheets with my students for their important math and reading assessments. After putting together these sheets and handwriting in their first score, I sat down with each individual student and picked a goal score for the next assessment, then we both signed the form. During the second assessment, a copy of this goal sheet was placed in front of them as a reminder of what they promised to try to achieve.
